Water
When I was nine, my family visited a photographer named Lotti Jacobi. She had a wonderful fish tank in her farmhouse. As the adults conversed, I started creating a painting of her fish. Time disappeared as I found a way to capture the little bubbles coming out of the air tank. Then I had to find a way to capture how the surface of the water from below created a mirror. The fish would show up reflected in it. The way I remember it, I pulled an all-nighter, as I wasn’t sure how long we would be there, and I wanted to ensure I had time to finish the painting. That began my love of trying to capture water with paint.
